The Worm is Back!
There are some lures that just flat out work. The Worm is one of them. The beauty of The Worm is its simplicity, Put it on, cast it out, reel it in...catch a bass! That’s about it for largemouth, smallmouth, walleye, pike, panfish, trout...just about any fish looking for a meal will take a bite! Anglers that use it, swear by it. Recently we at Custom Jigs & Spins got a message from a happy angler that just bought a bunch and in one weekend caught over 150 bass on six Worms! They produce.Simple and effective The Worm is easy for kids and beginning fishermen to use because it is so sim …

The Time is Now For Summertime Bluegill, Bass and More!
Here are three areas where bluegill and bass will roam in Summertime. They can be up shallow around cover like piers, fallen trees and weed pockets. They could be along the weed edge or first drop-off or they could be suspended. Let’s go catch them!Fishing Shallow Shallow fish are easy, all you need is some good casting skills and a little luck. For bluegill, I like a little ice jig like a Custom Jigs & Spins size 8 Glazba. It is made from tungsten so it has just enough weight to pitch around piers and wood with a light line on a St. Croix Panfish rod. Slide on a redworm, give i …

Fishing Heavy Jigs, Light Jigs and Jigs In-Between on the Edge and Beyond!
I’ve lost hundreds of jigs over the years. I would tie on a 3/8th ounce jig, add a minnow, drop it down and get snagged. I’d try to free it loose, bust the line, tie on another 3/8th ounce jig, snag it up and start all over again. The problem was that sometimes I wouldn’t snag right away, I would actually catch a walleye, so I knew the 3/8th ounce jig just HAD to be the right weight so there was no reason to try anything different. Finding the right jig weight In a river, fish can be caught in a lot of different areas. It’s all related to river depth and current speed. In low water a …

Blade Baits and Spoons are Hot Right Now!
Blade Baits and Jigging Spoons are the overlooked lures in your tackle box, they are just not very glamorous! But if you are a river fisherman or fish power plant cooling lakes in Illinois and other states you need to have a good selection of each and use them right now. When the open water season starts and the water is cold, it’s that time when the vibration of blade baits and drop speed of jigging spoons create a motion that walleye, sauger, white bass, striped bass, wipers, smallmouth and catfish can't resist! Fishing blade baits I like to think of a blade bait as a metal crankbai …
