Livescoping Walleye on AuthentX Paddletails- Plus Bonus White Bass Action on Bladebaits!
The month of May has always been a great month for walleye anglers in the Midwest. River fishing is still in full swing and lakes that had been closed for game fish spawning season will now be open. My only problem is...where do I go? I like to go where the walleye are biting. I'd rather drive an hour or more to where the bite is hot then put the boat in closer to home and have to struggle. The same goes for when I am on the water. I find myself spending more time searching than actually fishing. Sidescan, Livescope and GPS mapping has a lot to do with that as I get carried away and los …

The Best Walleye Fishing in March is in a Nearby River! Enjoy a few of my Best Walleye Techniques!
I've enjoyed some great fishing on different rivers in March in the Midwest. Ice fishing is done and every year the fishing seems to get better! While the rest of the anglers are waiting until April, May or even June for the weather to get nice and the lakes to start producing, river rat's are catching walleyes, sauger, and other fish right now!Spring fishing for walleye When I think of river fishing in March, I think of walleye and sauger. These fish push up to the dams to prepare for spawning or are beginning to spawn. Saugers preferred spawning temperature is between 39 and 45 degrees, …

I've probably never been more excited to go ice fishing! After having missed the entire ice and open water season last year due to health reasons...I'm ready to go! First stop will be to follow first ice in Wisconsin and then move down to Iowa and Illinois. I've got a lot of different lakes and backwaters that I fish each year and I'm an all species ice fisherman...read on to see what I'm excited about!  I’m pretty excited to be using glow jigs again too. Glowing jigs deliver on small lakes As soon as the ice is safe, I'll grab the trusty sled, spud bar, and lightweight electric …

Fall Walleye Fishing: The Best Plastics for Walleye

Fall Walleye Fishing: The Best Plastics for Walleye
When I first started fishing with plastic for walleye I was amazed at the fact that I could catch them on a plastic tail and a jig, often better than when using live bait. While walleye and sauger would mouth a large fathead or nibble on a half crawler, those same fish would slam a 4-6" Moxi like my dog grabbing his rawhide chew bone! While a jig and plastic is still my top way to approach these walleye on both rivers and lakes in fall and spring, I've since added a few more plastic presentations to my arsenal like a weedless jig, Chatterbait and the Tokyo Rig. Each has their time and place, re …

Snap Jiggin’ Equals Fish Catchin’!
Snap jigging has been around for a while now. Fishing pros have been snap jigging for walleye for years. It’s a technique that has accounted for some limit catches, when most other methods fail. If you want to catch fish this summer, whether it be bass or walleye, give snap jiggin’ a try...it might just work for you too!Where to start? A 1/4 ounce jig is a good starting point for an average depth of ten feet. Add a plastic tail and your in the snappin’ business. A good quality fast tip rod and medium action spinning reel spooled with 15 pound superline allows you to really make that jig S …
