Getting Fired Up About Slender Spoons
Slender Spoons have been working hard for us ice anglers for more than 40 years! Originally designed by Scott Stecher of Reef Runner Tackle, the Slender Spoon is a “must have '' for every ice fisherman! Currently Custom Jigs & Spins manufactures Scott’s original design and Chekai has been pounding them out in mass quantities in Croatia ever since. I have caught every species through the ice on Slender Spoons and have several rods dedicated specifically for each of the four sizes! Their size, weight and action duplicates a fleeing or dying baitfish and fish just gobble them u …

Ice Fishing Panfish: Get in on the Action Right Now!
Without a doubt, when it comes to ice fishing, I have put forth more effort panfishing than other larger species. Looking back on thousands of hours I have spent ice fishing and ice jig making, two things are certain, a fish is a fish as long as it is the same species. It doesn’t matter if its bluegill, crappie, perch, or white bass, each species reacts, eats and attacks prey differently. If you build the right jig...they will come! I love my Livescope I have spent a lot of time staring at a spring bobber, wondering what was going on down below the ice. I spent more time watching a …

Livescoping Walleye on AuthentX Paddletails- Plus Bonus White Bass Action on Bladebaits!
The month of May has always been a great month for walleye anglers in the Midwest. River fishing is still in full swing and lakes that had been closed for game fish spawning season will now be open. My only problem is...where do I go? I like to go where the walleye are biting. I'd rather drive an hour or more to where the bite is hot then put the boat in closer to home and have to struggle. The same goes for when I am on the water. I find myself spending more time searching than actually fishing. Sidescan, Livescope and GPS mapping has a lot to do with that as I get carried away and los …

Grab Your Fishing Lures & Let's Go Ice Fishing!

Grab Your Fishing Lures & Let's Go Ice Fishing!
I icefish for two reasons; to catch fish to eat and to catch fish to release! I don't go for the camaraderie, to cook a pot of chili or to drink beer and shoot schnapps, I can do that at home or in the garage. I've been ice fishing for more than 30 years now and I might be more excited about it than ever before. I've got my areas I like to fish, some secret spots and all the tackle and gear to make me successful. I like to go ice fishing to get away from the crowds, LOL! Some spots I fish are shallow, no need for a flasher, drill a dozen holes real quick and hop around until I …

The Walleye / White Bass Connection

The Walleye / White Bass Connection
Many lakes and rivers in the Midwest are loaded with walleye and white bass. While a lot of anglers target walleye and consider white bass a trash fish, I think that white bass fishing offers great sport and a great opportunity since they are such fun to catch, plus they are good in the frying pan, too! Happy anglers with a stringer of walleye and white bassAnglers like a variety of challenges! Don't get me wrong, I love walleye fishing. I've fished dozens of lakes and rivers all across the Midwest in search of trophies. I love targeting true trophy walleye, but I also love catching …
